Made to Measure Tailoring

What is it?

made to measure tailoring

What made to measure tailoring is not, is bespoke tailoring. We say this because we like to be clear and transparent about the services we offer. Rather frustratingly, the terms bespoke and semi-bespoke are often used by many retailers to embellish an often unremarkable product. Made to measure tailoring involves using a production workshop to create a suit made to your measurements, figuration and style details. The garment is made in a workshop using modern techniques, including laser cutting and modern garment presses. Our team have worked hard to create a pattern that standardises the Redmayne house look and reflects as much of our bespoke tailoring as we could manage.

the made to measure experience

Our made to measure garments are cut in the same unmistakable style as our bespoke. A slim, flattering silhouette with a natural soft shoulder for that classic English drape cut look. An incredibly light and comfortable to wear garment, thanks to our super soft canvas full and construction. The term, fully canvassed tailoring, won't mean much to most of our clients, but for those in our trade, we know that a fully canvassed coat is the key to comfort, style and longevity in a garment. The majority of suit retailers tend to sell garments that look the part for a short while, but inside they are often only half canvassed or even more commonly, fused together (glued together in simple terms). This inferior make lets the garments down, sometimes within only a year or so's regular wear.

Traditional English Tailoring.

The heritage and authority of Savile Row tailoring has been at the core of Redmayne since 1860. Our aim is to take everything we know about bespoke tailoring and implement its DNA into our made to measure service. Remember, we are not just an internet based retail business, we are tailors with over a hundred and fifty years of heritage. We know what is truly important in a suit, what to focus on that makes it special. We're not just talking about when your commission is completed, but the longevity of your suit in five or ten years. We make suits that you will continually choose to pull out of your wardrobe time and time again because it always seems to work, no matter the occasion. This is when the benefits and quality of our make shine through.

Fittings

Our Acclaim service includes a fitting appointment, this is where minor adjustments can be made to ensure you're delighted. Any adjustments or alterations made during these appointments are amended to your personal Redmayne profile for any future orders. Your made to measure garment will then be complete, but this isn't the end of the story, as they say, "the proof is in the pudding”. Our team will reach out to you after a couple of months to make sure your new suit is performing as it should and that you're completely satisfied. A good suit should be like a pair of new leather shoes and over the course of a 4-5 outings in your new suit it will settle and adjust to your body profile.
